Angel advised by father to focus on career

Pinayuhan si Angel Locsin ng kanyang ama na si Mr. Angel Colmenares na mag-concentrate na muna siya sa kanyang career. Sinabi ito ni Mang Angel sa taped interview sa kanya ng S-Files during his grand birthday celebration sa Grand Terrace, Quezon City noong February 19. Ang naturang pagdiriwang ay regalo ni Angel sa kanyang ama.

"I wish for the next two or three years, she will concentrate on her career," sabi ni Mr Colmenares. Nagbiro si Angel sa sinabi ng ama, "so wala munang boyfriend."

Pagpapatuloy ni Mang Angel, "I would be happy if she would stay like that because she will be able to concentrate more and probably perform better."

Aminadong natakot ang ama para kay Angel dahil sa sinapit nito sa dating karelasyon na si Oyo Sotto. Payo pa niya, "You have to use your head, know when it is the right time. Also, know how to select the best person for you."

Umaasa rin ang ama na higit siyang mabigyan ng panahon ng anak. "I wish she will have more time, not during birthdays alone."

Sagot naman ng nakababatang Angel, "Ayokong magreklamo, yun yung totoong ibinibigay sa akin e. Blessing na rin yun. Iniisip ko lang yung ginagawa ko para sa family ko."

Maaari na silang magkasamang mag-ama ngayon sa ipinapatayong bahay ni Angel sa Don Antonio Heights, Quezon City. Madalang na kasing magkita ang mag-ama gawa ng sobrang kaabalahan ni Angel sa trabaho.

Ani Mang Angel, "Hopefully, when we transfer, she will have more time for me. Unlike now, she's staying in the condo and I'm staying in my house. We talk once in a while over the telephone."

Bilang pangwakas, narito ang mensahe niya para kay Angel: "She's a very, very good daughter and she's very concerned about me. She does what she can to help us."

Sinagot naman ito ni Angel sa pagsasabing, "Kay Daddy, ‘wag ka masyadong mag-worry sa akin. Alam ko Daddy ginagawa ko. Alam ko Daddy, matagal na matagal pa tayong magsasama.

Richard admits that he nearly fell for Angel

"Kung ano man ang meron kami ni Angel ngayon, I think it's more special now than us jumping into a relationship two years ago," says Richard Gutierrez about his relationship with Angel Locsin.

Inamin ng young actor na si Richard Gutierrez na mas special ngayon ang kanilang relasyon ng kanyang leading lady sa The Promise na si Angel Locsin. Sa isang taped interview ng S-Files, sinabi nitong, "Kung ano man ang meron kami ni Angel ngayon, I think it's more special now than us jumping into a relationship two years ago."

Sagot naman ni Angel, "Kasi kami ni ‘Chard, masaya kami kung ano'ng nangyayari sa amin ngayon."

Isa sa pinakasikat at pinaka-bankable na loveteam ang Richard and Angel tandem. Una silang nagkasama sa GMA-7 youth-oriented drama show na Click, kung saan gumanap sila bilang magkapatid na kambal. Ang unang ipinareha kay Richard bilang loveteam ay si Chynna Ortaleza samantalang si Angel ay nagpapalit-palit ng mga kapareha—Jolo Revilla, Railey Valeroso, James Blanco, Oyo Sotto, Dennis Trillo, among others.

Nang pagtambalin sina Richard at Angel sa landmark fantaserye ng GMA-7 na Mulawin, naging mainit na ang pagtanggap ng publiko sa kanila.

Ito ay sa kabila ng katotohanang hindi naman talaga naging sila sa totoong buhay. Alam ng lahat na naging boyfriend ni Angel ang yumaong young actor na si Miko Sotto, at later on ay ang pinsan nitong si Oyo Sotto—na nagtapos na rin bago natapos ang 2006. Si Richard naman ay tahimik lang tungkol sa relasyon nila ng kanyang model-girlfriend na si Georgina Wilson.

Ngunit lingid sa kaalaman ng marami, muntik na palang magkaroon ng relasyon sina Richard at Angel, pero hindi ito natuloy.

"Hindi natuloy dahil sa akin. Nung mga panahong iyon... Hindi ko alam kung tama ‘tong sasabihin ko sa kanya," medyo hesitant pang sabi ni Richard.

"Ako kasi sa sarili ko nun, hindi pa ako handa. Maraming reasons kung bakit hindi natuloy. Marami pa akong iniisip at medyo ligaw pa ako nung panahong iyon," pag-amin ng binata.

Sa darating na Valentine's day ay magbubukas na sa mga sinehan ang ika-siyam na pelikula nina Richard at Angel together, ang The Promise, mula sa GMA Films at Regal Entertainment.

Ang iba pang mga pelikula nina Richard at Angel ay Mano Po 5 (2006), I Will Always Love You (2006), Mulawin: The Movie (2005), Let the Love Begin (2005), Mano Po 3 (2004), Sigaw (2004), Kuya (2004), at Mano Po 2 (2003).

Sa The Promise ay ginagampanan nina Richard at Angel ang kauna-unahan nilang mature roles sa pelikula. Ito rin ang unang pagkakataon na magkakaroon ng love scenes sa pelikula ang dalawa, bukod sa hindi mabilang na kissing scenes.

"Kung di siya ‘to, hindi siguro ako papayag na gawin yun. Kinabahan din ako. Hindi na ako nakapagsalita nun," banggit ni Angel tungkol sa love scenes nila ni Richard.

"Naging stronger yung bond namin. May dumagdag pa sa pagsasama namin. Mas bumigat pa yung relationship namin," sabi naman ni Richard.

Sa tanong kung matutuloy ba sa seryosong relasyon ang kanilang samahan, safe ang naging sagot ni Richard. "Kami ni Angel, we've always been close. Ako, as much as I can, sweet naman ako kay Angel. I try to be sweet. Ewan ko kung nararamdaman niya," sabi ng binatang anak nina Eddie Gutierrez at Annabelle Rama.

"Basta mahalaga, masaya kami together. Hindi naman namin tinutuldukan," nakangiting pahabol ni Angel.

Handa na sina Richard Gutierrez at Angel Locsin para sa kanilang kauna-unahang mature roles sa pelikulang The Promise.

The Promise is jointly produced again by Regal Films and GMA Films—the same tandem that gave us the last two years' hit Valentine movies, Let The Love Begin and I Will Always Love You, na sina Richard and Angel din ang mga bida. This time, The Promise will actually be shown on Valentine's Day, February 14.

The Promise is a loose remake of Reyna Films' Hihintayin Kita Sa Langit (1991) of Carlos Siguion-Reyna, starring Richard Gomez and Dawn Zulueta. Raquel Villavicencio, scriptwriter for both movies, disclosed na mas malapit sa novel ni Emily Bronte na Wuthering Heights ang The Promise kaysa sa Hihintayin Kita Sa Langit.

Ayon kay Raquel, Hihintayin Kita Sa Langit kasi is nearer to the 1939 film version that starred Laurence Olivier and Merle Oberon, playing Heathcliff and Catherine, the novel's original character names.

Mike Tuviera—the man behind TXT and the "LRT-2" episode of Shake, Rattle & Roll 8—is the director of The Promise, to be shot in several parts of the country, including Bolinao in Pangasinan, Cavite, and Laguna.

Pinabata lang ni Raquel ang mga bidang characters to suit the age of Richard and Angel. The award-winning scriptwriter, however, stresses that this will be the first time na gaganap ng mature roles ang dalawa sa pinakasikat na young stars sa kasalukuyan.

Sa first trailer pa lang shown in a mini-press con with the publicists and editors, hitik na ang halikan ng dalawang bida. In one scene pa nga, Richard is just in his maong pants while talking to Rhian Ramos—one of Richard's leading ladies in Captain Barbell.

Hindi pa rin daw tapos ang principal photography ng The Promise, so hindi pa nakukunan ang isang love scene na gagawin nina Richard and Angel. Although PG-13 ang rating na inaasahan ng pelikula, expected na rin daw nina Richard and Angel that their love scene here will be more than what they did in their past movies and TV shows together. Pareho na raw silang handa para rito.

The Promise also stars TJ Trinidad, Ryan Eigenmann, and Raquel Villaviciencio herself as TJ and Rhian's mother.
